"Avoiding Cat-astrophy: How to Engage Cat Owners in Life-Long Care"

Synopsis: Have you noticed a decline in cat veterinary visits at your clinic? If so, you’re not alone. While dog owners may have no problem bringing their pets in for annual and semi-annual visits, cat owners often need more encouragement to schedule consistent appointments and commit to lifelong care. But in the long run, this may not be so surprising. Pet owners have different needs and concerns that vary by species. Understanding how a cat owner thinks—and what they value when it comes to their pet’s care—gives you the opportunity to build lasting client relationships. This session will help you better communicate with cat owners. You’ll learn how to make them feel more comfortable and cared for at your practice while helping them understand the importance of regular veterinary visits for their cat’s overall preventive care.

Drunk and Anxious - a 2 part lecture series!

Synopsis: Seizures are the most common neurological condition you will encounter and yet with numerous medications available its difficult to know the which medications should be recommended! Join Dr Breanne Morrell (3rd year neurology resident) and Dr Barbara Lindsay (Neurologist) for this two-part lecture series focusing on dogs with seizures. Dr Morrell will start with "How Drunk is Too Drunk?" a discussion about anti-seizure medications in dogs focusing particularly on side-effects, blood work abnormalities, and when to worry about them. Dr Lindsay will finish with "Addressing Anxiety in Epileptics" where we discuss about how anxiety in epileptic dogs affects their quality of life, and what therapies can be used along side their anti-seizure medications.
