This month's meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 6th. The meeting will feature Nancy A. Sanders, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), DACVECC. She will present on "Leukograms Unleashed: Unlocking the Details, Revealing the Patterns & A Small Animal Internist's Practical Guide to Leukogram Interpretation." October's meeting is sponsored by IDEXX.

Bio: Nancy A. Sanders, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), DACVECC

Dr. Nancy Sanders earned her DVM from The Ohio State University and completed specialty training in small animal internal medicine and emergency/critical care at the University of Pennsylvania. She spent 22 years in clinical practice, holding leadership roles in emergency, ICU, and internal medicine departments, directing residency programs, and serving as a principal investigator on multiple clinical drug trials. Dr. Sanders joined IDEXX in 2012 first as a member of the Medical Consultant Services (MCS) as an internal medicine phone consultant. She recently transitioned to the Medical Education Specialty (MES) team, where she enjoys educating and learning from veterinary professionals.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Recognize and differentiate common leukogram patterns associated with inflammation, stress, excitement, and corticosteroid responses.

2. Interpret leukocyte abnormalities in the context of patient history, clinical findings, and other laboratory data.

3. Evaluate hematology analyzer dot plots to identify diagnostically important abnormalities, artifacts, and indications for further review.

4. Identify key blood film findings, including left shifts, toxic change, and atypical leukocyte morphology.

5. Apply a systematic approach that integrates leukogram data, dot plot assessment, and blood film evaluation to improve diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making.
