Associate Veterinarian
  • Associate veterinarians work with the owners to define and implement hospital medical policies and procedures that ensure quality care to the patients and clients.  They deliver medical, surgical and dental care to patients, and supervise hospital medical staff members.  They also perform management activities including review of the practice key performance indicators, new business development, facility expansion, staff continuing education, and marketing activities.  They have a strong leadership role in that they set the tone and the standards for the practice. 

    Medical and Surgical:

  •          Works with owners to set hospital medical policies and procedures; performs all duties in accordance with them.
  •          Performs physical examinations using preliminary data provided by the veterinary technicians; diagnoses physical condition and presents treatment alternatives to the client in a compassionate manner. 
  •          Performs medical, surgical and dental procedures; provides emergency services in accordance with hospital policy.
  •          Interprets the results of laboratory procedures and determines the appropriate protocol based on the results; reads radiographs and interprets EKGs; prescribes medications.
  •          Promptly and accurately updates patient records and communicates with clients regarding progress of hospital patient’s lab results and follow ups.
  •          Plans and carries out a program of personal medical continuing education in accordance with requirements of the state Veterinary Medical Board.

    Human Resources:

  •          Supervises veterinary technicians; works with them to assess their current skill level and to plan and implement their continuing education and growth.
  •          Delivers in-house medical training to the hospital staff.
  •          Is accessible by staff while maintaining doctor/staff professional relationship. 

    Business Management

  •                      Works toward and attains hospital productivity standards.
  •                      With the owners, periodically reviews the key performance indicators and plans for changes as indicated.
  •                      Works with the owners on plans for developing and growing the business.
  •                      Is active in professional organizations.

    Hospital Facility

  •                      Works with the owners to plan for facility maintenance, expansion, redesign, to ensure a facility that is not only medically efficient but visually appealing to client and staff.

    Client Relations

  •                      Takes time to communicate effectively with clients, presenting them with treatment alternatives and being sensitive to their emotional as well as financial status.
  •                      Sets an example for the staff in dealing with clients; promotes the concept of the client-centered environment.
  •                      Helps to develop new programs and processes that meet clients’ changing needs.


  •                      Assists the marketing effort by participating in community activities that focus on the veterinary profession.

    Practice Leadership

  •                      Communicates objectives, motivates staff, builds and maintains morale; maintains core values and standards.
  •                      Takes an active role in hospital staff meetings but ensure that all staff members participate; rotates leadership of the meetings. 
  •                      Promotes cooperative working environment among staff members; understands the value of teamwork; shows enthusiasm and willingness to perform as necessary to help the hospital function as a unit.
  •                      Promotes “CQI” Continuous Quality Improvement for the practice’s success and vision.


  •                      D.V.M. licensed in state of Texas.


  •                      Experience as a D.V.M. in a practice is desirable, but not a requirement.


  •                      Excellent medical and surgical skills.
  •                      Significant continuing education achievements, beyond licensing requirements. 
  •                      Excellent communication skills with both staff and clients.
  •                      Ability to recognize that teamwork is essential for a quality hospital; ability to work as a team member as well as a doctor.
  •                      Working knowledge of and interest in the business aspect of a veterinary practice.

Part-time Veterinary Technician Needed  Seeking a part-time experienced veterinary technician with good client communication and telephone skills. Must effectively be able to read, speak, and write in English. Must have basic computer literacy skills and be able to handle multiple unrelated tasks simultaneously while working in a busy environment. Must also be able to lift 50 pounds, work on feet all day, and write legibly. Must be customer service oriented and friendly. REQUIREMENTS: • Provide in-patient nursing care, perform medical treatments, perform in-hospital diagnostics, patient critical care & daily monitoring, place IV catheters, administer IV fluids, venipuncture, TPN, or PPN.• Prioritizes daily patient treatments and communicates patient status with doctor(s) on duty.• Must pay attention to detail and be a self-motivator.• Proficient at anesthesia induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery of patients.• Present patient discharge instructions and client information packs and giving patient updates, medical demonstrations and education for hospitalized patients.• Prepare prescriptions, dispense medications accurately and conduct medication refills with little to no supervision.• Must be able to work on your feet for 10 hours• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.• Computer skills are needed for our paperless practice.
