Position Overview

Our practice is located in the fast-growing community of Frisco, TX. As one of the most established practices in Frisco, we are well situated within the community and have an established, growing clientele base. We operate five and a half days a week providing care to animals within Frisco and the surrounding communities.  

Practice Overview

We are a small, family owned (private ownership), Solo DVM veterinary hospital looking to become multi doctor. Our focus is on providing exceptional, high quality care to clients and their pets. We Have:
-     In house IDEXX Diagnostics

  • 2 LVT’s on staff, plus a 3rd full time technician

  • Digital Radiography, Traveling Radiologist for U/S 

  • Referral IDEXX (With specialist phone consult available) and ZN Labs

  • Referral Specialties within 2-15 miles (Derm, Onco, Internist, Ortho, literally anything you want)

  • 3 exam rooms, 1 surgical suite, treatment area, pharmacy, separate dental area, isolation, boarding, and grooming

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Providing the best veterinary care to the patients first and foremost

  • Engaging/Educating owners and truly getting to know them as people more-so than “just a client” 

  • 4 day work week (8 a.m.-6 p.m.) with a 5 hour Saturday (8 a.m.-1 p.m.) every other weekend (Local ER’s cover after hours) 

  • Engaging with staff to help better educate them so that they too can help to provide a great experience  

  • Showing clients what differentiates us from other practices to ensure they value the qualities we provide

  • Would love someone with interests in ultrasound, orthopedics and dentistry as these are areas we’d like to expand.


  • A DVM from a veterinary college at an accredited university

  • Active Texas/National Licenses in Good Standing with the respective boards 

  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative 

  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time 

  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity 

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Associate Veterinarian
  • Associate veterinarians work with the owners to define and implement hospital medical policies and procedures that ensure quality care to the patients and clients.  They deliver medical, surgical and dental care to patients, and supervise hospital medical staff members.  They also perform management activities including review of the practice key performance indicators, new business development, facility expansion, staff continuing education, and marketing activities.  They have a strong leadership role in that they set the tone and the standards for the practice. 

    Medical and Surgical:

  •          Works with owners to set hospital medical policies and procedures; performs all duties in accordance with them.
  •          Performs physical examinations using preliminary data provided by the veterinary technicians; diagnoses physical condition and presents treatment alternatives to the client in a compassionate manner. 
  •          Performs medical, surgical and dental procedures; provides emergency services in accordance with hospital policy.
  •          Interprets the results of laboratory procedures and determines the appropriate protocol based on the results; reads radiographs and interprets EKGs; prescribes medications.
  •          Promptly and accurately updates patient records and communicates with clients regarding progress of hospital patient’s lab results and follow ups.
  •          Plans and carries out a program of personal medical continuing education in accordance with requirements of the state Veterinary Medical Board.

    Human Resources:

  •          Supervises veterinary technicians; works with them to assess their current skill level and to plan and implement their continuing education and growth.
  •          Delivers in-house medical training to the hospital staff.
  •          Is accessible by staff while maintaining doctor/staff professional relationship. 

    Business Management

  •                      Works toward and attains hospital productivity standards.
  •                      With the owners, periodically reviews the key performance indicators and plans for changes as indicated.
  •                      Works with the owners on plans for developing and growing the business.
  •                      Is active in professional organizations.

    Hospital Facility

  •                      Works with the owners to plan for facility maintenance, expansion, redesign, to ensure a facility that is not only medically efficient but visually appealing to client and staff.

    Client Relations

  •                      Takes time to communicate effectively with clients, presenting them with treatment alternatives and being sensitive to their emotional as well as financial status.
  •                      Sets an example for the staff in dealing with clients; promotes the concept of the client-centered environment.
  •                      Helps to develop new programs and processes that meet clients’ changing needs.


  •                      Assists the marketing effort by participating in community activities that focus on the veterinary profession.

    Practice Leadership

  •                      Communicates objectives, motivates staff, builds and maintains morale; maintains core values and standards.
  •                      Takes an active role in hospital staff meetings but ensure that all staff members participate; rotates leadership of the meetings. 
  •                      Promotes cooperative working environment among staff members; understands the value of teamwork; shows enthusiasm and willingness to perform as necessary to help the hospital function as a unit.
  •                      Promotes “CQI” Continuous Quality Improvement for the practice’s success and vision.


  •                      D.V.M. licensed in state of Texas.


  •                      Experience as a D.V.M. in a practice is desirable, but not a requirement.


  •                      Excellent medical and surgical skills.
  •                      Significant continuing education achievements, beyond licensing requirements. 
  •                      Excellent communication skills with both staff and clients.
  •                      Ability to recognize that teamwork is essential for a quality hospital; ability to work as a team member as well as a doctor.
  •                      Working knowledge of and interest in the business aspect of a veterinary practice.
  •                      Willingness to perform management responsibilities.
  •                      Willingness to work emergencies or extra hours when essential.
  •                      Interest in marketing and growth of the practice.
  •                      Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 50 lbs).  Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position.
  •                      Working conditions:  May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal excrements. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases.
